Christmas is all about making those memories with your loved ones and enjoying the Christmas cheer so if you are spending the Christmas season in Singapore, then check out these family-friendly attractions and activities below and see what’s happening for Christmas 2021 on our little red dot!
For me, one thing my family always likes to do each December is visit the theatre, whether it be to see a musical or pantomime or show, there is something special about dressing up and heading out as family for an afternoon matinee! There are two that caught my eye:

Baby Shark LIVE: The Hidden Treasure
If you have a child like my youngest you will be VERY familiar with Baby Shark, which we have had to listen to on repeat and participate in all the actions repeatedly. So this live stage performance together with Pinkfong and Hogi is bound to be a hit! Your favourite Baby Shark characters will be going on an under the sea adventure where they must solve five fun rhyming riddles before the sun goes down. Tickets are on the expensive side, however it is Christmas so maybe time for a treat!
When: 24th Dec - 26th Dec
Where: The Theatre at Mediacorp, 1 Stars Avenue, 138507
Cost: $79-$118

PLAYtime! The Noisy Forest
The Noisy Forest is an exciting music-led adventure full of rousing beats and catchy tunes that are bound to excite and encapture your little ones. Follow three explorers into the magical forest, listening closely for the different rhythms and sounds. Don’t worry that your little one may not sit still, as you will be encouraged to bang and clap along, so feel those funky rhythms and have fun! This show is not only super interactive but also great value for money so you can take the whole family!
When: 24th Dec - 2nd Jan
Where: Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, 1 Esplanade Dr, 038981
Cost: $20
If you’re looking for somewhere to take a stroll and bask in the beauty of Christmas, especially for those of us with babes in prams, then here are some great places to stretch the legs and work off those Christmas nibbles we all have been feasting on!

Christmas In Bloom' Orchard Road Light-Up
This is a family favorite of walks to do over the Christmas period. We usually head out for dinner along Orchard at 5.30pm then by the time dinner is over it’s starting to get dark so perfect timing to walk from Tanglin Mall down to Orchard gateway to enjoy the Christmas lights. This year Orchard road has a floral theme and giant outdoor projection! Themed "Christmas in Bloom". The giant outdoor video projection takes up an entire wall of the Mandarin Orchard Hotel. Perfect for a weekend jaunt.
When: 19th Nov - 2nd Jan
Where: Orchard road
Cost: Free

Poinsettia wishes at
Gardens By The Bay
We love Gardens by the Bay every year for their beautiful Christmas floral displays, and we always manage to get some great Christmas photos there! It is the perfect place for a Christmassy whimsical walk and to cool off in the air-con! This year the theme is traditional confectionery from the Nordic countries, featuring an eight-metre-tall cupcake ferris wheel, a candied apple Christmas carriage, candy canes and adorable gingerbread decorations in the shape of animals. Make sure to add this one to the Christmas list of activities!
When: 26th Nov - 3rd Jan
Where: Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome, 18 Marina Gardens Dr, 018953

Rainforest Luminia
This enchanted illuminated night time walk through Singapore Zoo is great for older preschoolers and kids who don’t mind a bit of a late night. Take a snowy night walk amidst the multimedia experience that combines nature and technology using the latest in light, projection and audio. This is the perfect time to visit as it is in its final season. There are also some festive craft activities to join in with such as decorating Christmas ornaments!

If you’re missing the winter chill and desperate to feel those frosty fingers - it may not be as hard to find as you might expect in the tropics! Whether it is ice-skating, snow or sledging you’re looking for, here are my top go-tos.

Snowcity Singapore
Your one stop shop for all things snow and the funnest Winter Wonderland you will find! There are 4 zones; explore the arctic circle in Zone 1 - Arctic snow playground, the fun never ends in Zone 2 - Snow field, live like an Inuit in Zone 3 - Traditional Inuit’s Home @ the Mezzanine and for brave winter warriors only, Zone 4 - Arctic Snow slide. They also have a new Drift on Ice addition that is a bumper car experience on ice, which looks amazing especially for older kids who could ride solo, an Ice Hotel experience that includes five thematic ice and snow art installation zones, you can experience a “daycation” at the Hotel Room, plus Dads can enjoy craft beers at the Ice Bar, a definite selling point in my household! This is a great family day out and will definitely fulfil your need for some winter chills.
When: all year
Where: Snowcity, 21 Jurong Town Hall Rd, 609433
Cost: $16.80-$35

Kallang Iceworld
If your kids are looking to brave the ice this year, then Kallang Iceworld is a great place for their first ice rink experience as it includes free support trainers for kids. Embrace your inner ‘“Blades of Glory” or “Frozen” and head out for a family afternoon on the ice!

Chijmes Skating rink
Chijmes is where it is all happening this year.
This is great for older kids who are looking for 30 minutes of jolly festive fun on the ice. Minimum age to enter the skating rink is 10 years old and under 12 years require adult supervision.

Now Christmas just isn’t Christmas without a trip to visit Santa or as we know him “”Father Christmas”. This is a MUST DO activity for our family, and a MUST HAVE annual photo! So if you are wondering where to find the fluffy red guy, look no further!

Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay
The spectacular light displays are back at Gardens by the Bay at their Christmas Wonderland. You can have a festive fun filled evening with Carnival games, a ride on the Venetian double-storey carousel, shopping for gifts at Mistletoe Alley Market, the mesmerising lights and sound display - but most importantly for our little ones… TAKE A PHOTO WITH SANTA! Unfortunately it is only open from 6.30pm, but definitely worth a late night for the littles one in my opinion. Christmas Wonderland is one of the most iconic attractions in Singapore over the Christmas period and really brings the magic, so book your tickets in advance!
When: 3rd Dec - 2nd Jan
Time: 6.30pm – 10.30pm
Where: Gardens by the Bay, 18 Marina Gardens Dr, 018953
Cost: $5-$7

Meet Santa and his sidecar at CHIJMES
Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES are going all out this year with ‘A Ride to an Enchanted Christmas’ with Capitol Singapore & CHIJMES Sidecar Civic District Tour, singing tree, snowfall, skating and more! The vintage sidecars, which are on display at Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES, are pet-friendly and offer photo-taking opportunities with Sidecar Santa. It has been almost impossible to “meet” Santa since COVID-19 hit us, but this year you may finally have a chance!
When: 19th Nov - 26th Dec
Santa’s Appearance: 7pm – 7.30pm and 8pm – 8.30pm
Where: Capitol Singapore’s Outdoor Plaza
Cost: $5

Santa Pororo and Santa Tayo
If you fancy seeing Santa Pororo or Tayo, then you can sign up to the meet and greet sessions throughout December. It is not quite the traditional Santa meet and greet but Pororo and Tayo are helping out the main man this year and getting their festive best on to bring some Christmas cheer to our kiddos! See visiting times and hours and ticket prices at Pororo Park and Tayo Station as they vary. Note Santa Tayo will be working part-time, on weekends only!
Christmas music and carols are a big part of Christmas for us, and always get us in the mood for festivities! In our house there are always two songs on repeat - “All I want for Christmas”, my daughter’s favourite and “Somewhere in my memory” from Home Alone, my favourite. Door to door carolling isn’t a thing in Singapore, something we used to enjoy back home in the UK. However our little red dot doesn’t disappoint so if you’re looking to take your little ones to enjoy some Christmas tunes here are some options for you:

Capitol Kempinski Singing Tree
Look up towards the top of the tree to witness the carollers serenade you with signature Christmas carols nightly. My family is definitely heading here to the Capitol Kempinski Singing Tree for one evening! We have never been before and it looks magical! I can’t wait to see how my little girls react to all the music!
When: 3rd-5th, 10th-12th, 15th-26th Dec, 7.30pm & 8.30pm
Where: Capitol Singapore’s Outdoor Plaza, 13 Stamford Rd, 178905
Cost: Free
Chijmes Christmas Carolling
The iconic Chijmes already has a whimsical quality to it, throw some fairy lights and carolling in and you’re in for a magical experience! Feel and hear the carols in the air. Sing along or just bask in the harmonious voices serenading you this Christmas.
When: 3rd-5th, 10th-12th, 15th-26th Dec, 7.30pm & 8.30pm
Where: The Lawn, CHIJMES, 30 Victoria St, 187996

Hopefully our little Christmas guide to family-friendly festive activities will help make your Christmas a magical one! After all, Christmas is a time to enjoy our loved ones, take a break from work, and make memories that last a lifetime!
